Creation exploded into being rather than mutated over millennia.That image of Aslan now softly roaring, now blasting forth as only lions can, is so much more appealing, vibrant and real than the lifeless (In every way) alternative. The vibrant creative power of the spoken, (or rather sung) word is part of what interests and motivates me in dabbling an appreciation of God's thoughts after Him..
So what about the squiggly lines? Well it's a number of things. My uncle, Jez Kunz once made the mistake of telling me that there are no straight lines in nature... I set out to prove him wrong. Actually it is more than that, It's whimsical for sure, but it is not just a feeling. All of creation links back to, and is sustained by the "prototokos" or firstborn of all creation found in Collosians 1:15. The lines are for Him, and lead to Him. They also allow me to create added meaning in the negative spaces. Not unlike magnetic field lines point to the poles, they point to the restoration of all creation and that Eu-Awesome day when creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay. (Romans 8:21) Come Lord Jesus, come.

The Covid 19 collection, being locked up in an apartment on the eighth floor of a Venezuelan "edeficio" has some advantages. 2020 was a more productive year than most with 28 paintings that made it home to Africa.
